As you may know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! I have always been very supportive of Breast Cancer Awareness. I never had anyone in my family or friends that had breast cancer but I still felt the need to support women with breast cancer. In March of last year, my mother was diagnosed with Stage 3B Invasive Ductal Carcinoma at the age of 48. My world came to a halt! The CRAZY THING was that my mom gave me a breast cancer awareness bracelet 2 months before her diagnosis!!! I have worn that bracelet every day since.
It was kind of a shock that my mother’s breast cancer had grown so fast. She has had yearly mammograms on time every year and nothing showed up on the one before this one. Since then she has had a mastectomy, lymph nodes removed, chemotherapy and radiation. She is still waiting to have reconstructive surgery. She is doing good now. 🙂 The emotions you go through when this is your family member is so hard. I am so grateful that she is doing well.
