The kids are out of school running around the house. There are piles and piles of laundry that need to be done. You have already chauffeured your kids around town 3 times today and it’s barely noon. If your kids are like mine they don’t want to get off the Xbox or stop playing with their Kendamas. Are you tired of hearing “I’m bored”? Do you want to get out of the house and have some summer fun with the kids before they go back to school but you aren’t sure what to do? I have your solution!
Here’s a list of 25 FUN THINGS To Do This Summer! (for all ages)
- Play capture the flag at night with your kids. You used to play night games when you were younger why stop now?
- Rent a water slide. If you don’t have enough money to rent a water slide go to Family Dollar and buy a Slip and Slide for around $10 or make your own.
- Look into Home Depot’s Free monthly KID craft workshops. My local Home Depot craft this month is an Ice Age Bowling Game! Get more info here… http://workshops.homedepot.com/workshops/kids-workshops.
They even have weekly adult DIY workshops! http://workshops.homedepot.com/workshops/do-it-yourself-workshops.
- Go to a car show. At car show there are usually old cars and new cars. It’s amazing to see how things have changed over the years.
- Go on an adventure and go geocaching! We have a blast geocaching! It is like a treasure hunt. Be sure to bring a treasure of your own to exchange for what you find.
- Host a neighborhood party and BBQ. Who doesn’t love to get together with great friends and food?
- Go to a swimming pool or water park. Kids love to get wet when it is super hot outside. Be sure to wear sunscreen.
- Check out your local library. Let the kids pick out a fun book to read during the summer.
- Have a playful water fight. Surprise the kids with water balloons and squirt guns.
- Make a lemonade stand. You could also do a “Popsicles and Punch” stand. Let your kids make a sign and help them figure out prices.
- Plant and grow a garden. Get the kids involved in gardening or helping plant flowers and watering them. Show them how things can grow from seeds.
- Take the kids to the zoo. My kids love seeing the baby animals.
- Check out a demolition derby. You never know what to expect at one of these.
- Make rock pets. Go rock hunting in your yard and then let the kids paint them. You can even put googly eyes on them. 🙂
- Have an ice cream sundae party! Invite friends over and make yummy sundaes with all of your favorite toppings.
- Explore a kids museum or aquarium. These are SO much fun!
- Go for a hike, bike ride or a walk around town in the evening together. Get exercise as a family.
- Go to the drive-in movies! If you have a truck take some sleeping bags and lay them out in the back to watch the movie. If you don’t have a truck you can sit in your car or bring some camping chairs and blankets to stay warm.
- Play tennis. Tennis is my favorite sport to play. You can even teach the younger kids how to play too.
- Put on your cowboy hat and head on over to a rodeo. Sometimes they even let the kids try to catch a pig!
- Go camping or camp in your backyard. Pitch a tent or simply sleep on the trampoline.
- Have an indoor or outdoor movie night. Don’t forget the popcorn and drinks! The kids can even make their own concession stand and ticket box office.
- Head over to the park and have a picnic. Take a blanket and make sandwiches while the kids play.
- Build a fairy garden. Let your imaginations run wild and build tiny fairy houses.
- Go to a garage sale. One kids junk is another kids treasure. 😉
I hope you have lots of FUN in the SUN this Summer!!
